Actinovate SP consists of the active Streptomyces lydicus strain WYEC 108, which colonizes roots and plant tissues.
Streptomyces feed on dead plant matter and utilize surrounding material to grow along with roots and plant cells.
Actinovate SP produces iron scavenging siderophores, as well as a secondary metabolite Chitinase, which is an enzyme that actively breaks down chitin in the pathogens cell walls. With this combination of Chitinase and siderophore production, it actively seeks out and kills pathogens.
