µBIOM™ synbiotics for Early Life nutrition

Rooted in research

Synbiotics – it’s a question of better health

Like you, we want infants and toddlers to get the best nutrition possible. Though mother’s breast milk is always first choice, less than half the world’s babies are exclusively breastfed the first six months.

We want to help you help them. A decade ago, HMOs became available for infant and toddler formulas. It was brand new, and we were the first to ferment MyOli® HMOs. Now, emerging science is revealing synergistic and complementary health benefits from our µBIOM™ synbiotics (synbiotics containing our clinically documented probiotics and MyOli® HMOs).

What’s the buzz about µBIOM™ synbiotics?

The health benefits of HMOs and good bacteria are deeply intertwined—often hard to separate. We’re at the forefront of this science and lead in producing top-quality probiotics and MyOli® HMOs through fully vertically-integrated production.

  • Synergistic synbiotics

    Synergistic synbiotics

Synergistic probiotics are when the prebiotic, in our case HMOs, specifically stimulates the probiotic to boost its health-supporting effect.

  • Synergistic synbiotics

    Complementary synbiotics

Science indicates that HMOs offer direct health benefits in addition to feeding the microbiome. In complementary synbiotics, the probiotic and prebiotic act independently.

Helping infant type Bifidobacteria thrive

Up to 90% of an infant’s gut microbiome is made up of infant-type Bifidobacteria, crucial for gut and immune development.

Strikingly, a 2018 study found their natural abundance has declined in developed countries—most notably in infants born after 1980. This generational loss is likely due to modern lifestyle changes1.

Breastfeeding is the best way to reverse this trend. HMOs in formula can also support infant type Bifidobacteria colonization. Supplementing with an infant type bifidobacteria like Istilos™ is also beneficial.

Our all-round synbiotic for early life gut health

It’s hard to overemphasize how important a healthy gut is to an infant and toddler’s development. Suffice it to say that when their microbiome is balanced appropriate to their age, they have fewer stomach challenges, are more content, and their gut and immune systems develop on track.

With clinical and pre-clinical studies supporting the benefits, we recommend the synergistic combination of the Bifidobacteria strains B. lactis, BB-12® + Istilos™ B. infantis + MyOli® 2’-FL..2 3 4

BB-12® + Istilos™ + MyOli® 2'-FL: the science

In 45 minutes, we walk you through opportunities with synbiotics and several studies showing the many ways BB-12® + Istilos™ + MyOli® 2'-FL work to keep digestive heath in balance and development on track.

Keeping gut and immune development on track

An active child’s social contact challenges their immune system, which continues to develop well into their teenage years. Every exposure trains immunity, but only sometimes affects their health. For example, young children average three episodes of loose and watery stools each year.5

LGG® + MyOli® 3-FL: a strong pair

We recommend this µBIOM™ synbiotic. Each works individually to keep kids healthy and may have an additive effect as well.

MyOli® 3-FL can bind to unwanted microbes so they can’t attach to the gut wall and cause problems . But when they do, the L. rhamnosus, LGG® probiotic strain boasts multiple clinical studies documenting results to help make stomach episodes briefer and/or less drastic , , , , , .

Both work directly to help strengthen the gut barrier, too. In fact, pre-clinical data indicates that together they may increase gut barrier integrity to a higher extent than either of them alone .

Don't compromise your quality standards. We offer probiotics in our own infant grade standard.

What’s on your mind?

Whatever it is, let us know. Just like µBIOM™ synbiotics can make something greater than the sum of its parts, perhaps our collaboration can, too. It’s a question of better health.
