B. coagulans, SC208™

B. coagulans, SC208™ (shortened to SC208™) belongs to the genus Bacillus. It has been studied alone and in combination with other Bacillus bacteria, where it showed positive results regarding bowel regularity. SC208™ is a spore-forming probiotic strain, meaning it can enter a dormant state. In this dormant state, it is extremely robust and can withstand harsh manufacturing processes, including those used to make gummy supplements
Product features, details and benefits
- Clinically studied on adults.
- May have positive affects on gut discomfort and occasional constipation.
- Suitable for gummy supplements.
As a lactic-acid-producing bacterial strain, the SC208™ strain has superior sporulation efficiency, strong adaptability to the gastrointestinal tract, and long-lasting activity.
Spore-forming bacteria can survive very harsh conditions and processing like HTST pasteurization. In May 2021, the many Bacillus bacteria were re-classified so the members of each genera were more closely related. Bacillus coagulans became Weizmannia coagulans. But in 2023, it was argued that the various strains had been divided into too many, too small categories. So Weizmannia may be subsumed under the genera Heyndrickxia in the future1. For now, this bacterium is known as both B. coagulans, SC208™ or W. coagulans, SC208™.
SC208™ is acid and bile stable.
It’s produced in a certified GMP Facility, FSSC22000 certified incl. ISO22000.
The SC208™ logo can be used on packaging subject to agreement. SC208™ is a trademark of Novozymes A/S, part of Novonesis Group.
